Happy Birthday & Happy Valenitine's Day

Isabella has really been enjoying primary.  She is now a Sunbeam....NO, she's a CTR 4!!  I can't believe it.  What's happening to all of my babies?!  They're all growing up way too fast. Well, at the start of this year I decided to have what I call, "A Secret Child of God" every week for singing time in primary.  What is a secret child of God you ask?  It's a video recording that I make every week of people in our ward singing our new song for the year, "As a Child of God."  At the beginning of singing time I play the recording so that they can hear (only) to whomever is singing.  Once they think they know who the voice is I play it again and let them see as well as hear the recording.  It's my tricky way of teaching them the new song.  The more they hear it, the more they remember it.  Repetition my friends, repetition.  Below, there is a video of Isabella singing as our secret child of God for the week.  Enjoy!
On February 4th we all celebrated Elizabeth's 1st birthday!  We did this by making the traditional cake that is specifically made to be destroyed as well as a cake for everyone to eat.  I wish I would have researched online a little before attempting the, "dolly-dress cake."  I still don't know how to properly make/form/whatever this cake.  At least this was the cake that was made in particular for destruction.  Oh, and I knew this before hand, but let me just remind all of you once again that it is impossible to make red frosting with food coloring.  If anyone has the answer to this predicament of mine I'm all ears.
The cake that was made for eating was much better.  Chocolate frosting is a whole lot better than powder sugar frosting that has been overly-treated with red food coloring (yuck!).  Yes, the chocolate, chocolate cake was very good indeed.
Libby received a toy phone that she enjoys quite a bit from her parents.  She also got the most adorable hat ever from her Aunt Janet.  Janet crocheted an oh-so-cute owl hat with tassels.  I LUV IT!  It's the perfect fit.  I hope it lasts all winter.  Thank you Aunt Janet!
Also to celebrate the occasion we put the baby to bed!   Then we adults continued the celebration with Shawn and our old friend Mike over a good  game of D&D. What a perfect birthday huh?  Happy Birthday Libby!!

Libby loves her rocking horse!
Yeah, that's a bag of frosting you see....totally disgusting.  But honestly, as a kid, I would have done it too.

Happy Valentine's Everyone!  For Valentine's Day this year we stole a tradition from Uncle Jason and Aunt Sarah.  It was too good not to steal.  I never did take a picture of it, but we decorated a, "Love Box" so to speak.  This box was made during the first week of February.  For the next two weeks we placed love notes in the box to everyone in our little family.  On Valentine's Day we had goodies and coloring books to go with our box of love.  Actually, we forgot to open the notes until today (18th).  Oh well, maybe next year we'll get it completely right.  I really like this tradition and I think we're going to be sticking with it.
The flowers from the hubby (note: actually given before Valentine's Day).  It was a great surprise.
I wish I would have thought of taking this picture when I first saw the mess.  This is half-way cleaned up.  There used to be cups and some other stuff strewn about as well.  Happy Valentine's to me...love Lukey-boy.
Gotta have the festive hair.

So fun Nikki! i just lovve your little family. You guys always make me smile. I too love the love notes. It makes valentines day so much more meaningful me. As for the red frosting, you can't use regular red food coloring. you need to buy wilton decorating dye. its in the craft section of walmart, not the baking isle. Or they sell it at michaels, and hobby lobby. I use Christmas red. it works really well.
